Tour of the Valle di Fiemme

MTB

Medium difficulty tour that runs through much of the villages in the Valle di Fiemme and natural attractions such as the Brozin biotope and waterfall of Cavalese.

Tour information:

From PanchiĆ  we take a very steep road for about 1 kilometer before finding the first stretch of plains that allows us to catch the breath. Here we cycle through woodlands and pastures to the village of Propian and from there uphill to the Valle di Stava to the homonymous location, where on 19 July 1985 a large amount of mud and debris caused the death of 269 innocent victims. Crossing the village, we come on the other side of the valley. Here we take a forest road, where ascents alternate with flat sections. Once arrived in the village Guagiola, we can admire the majestic view of the Monte Cornacci , the Lagorai chain and the Valle di Fiemme lying underneath. Leaving this panorama behind, we need to concentrate on a steep, difficult descent at the end of which we proceed about two kilometers on a flat ground, before moving to wide meadows rewarding us with a magnificent view. After a short descent we reach the villages of Varena and Daiano. Here, it is a good idea to fill up the water bottles at one of the numerous wells, as a feared 700-meter-long and up to 18-percent steep climb to Ganzaie starts here. Before continuing the tour, we can stop at the Maso dello Speck, a typical local restaurant where bacon and sausage products are produced and sold. We continue pedaling in a secular forest of fir and larch, and after a few hundred meters the road begins to descend smoothly and we get to the location Cela. Here we cross the state road 48 of the Dolomites and find ourselves in front of the biotope Brozin. The biotope marks the turning point, from where pedaling towards Castello di Fiemme we can see the majestic silhouette of the Pale di San Martino in the distance. In short we reach the center of the Cavalese, then follows a rapid descent to Cascata. The place is named after the waterfall of the Moena brook, which we can admire here before we make the 10 kilometers on the bike path to get back to the hotel.

Variation: We can extend the tour by taking the cableway to the Alpe di Cermis. From here we take the delightful descent crossing the woodlands, which brings us back to the original route.
