Tour of the Val Venegia and the Baita Segantini

MTB

The Val Venegia is located in the northern part of the Natural Park of Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino, in the middle of a forest of fir trees of 2700 hectares. On clear days of good weather the three-thousanders with their eternal ice seem so close, you can almost touch them.
The tour information:
The forest trails that lead to the Baita Segantini present no technical difficulties and therefore allow you to relax and admire the beautiful scenery with the Pale di San Martino, which rise to the south, fascinating the climbers since ever. In the summer you can observe many climbers even on the steep slopes above the Baita Segantini. Here the bikers have only the role of spectators and observing certain ascents, the pleasant consciousness of not having to go up.
We start from the “Paneveggio Visitor Center” (1540 m). From there, we head first in the direction of the Venegia Valley, until we reach the turnoff for the Passo Rolle and the PassoValles. We go up, keeping on the right, 500 meters on the road to the Passo Rolle till we reach the junction, where we turn left onto the forest path. We continue straight through the woodlands to a junction where we turn left, then taking the road up to the Malga Venegia (1770 m). Now we proceed straight towards the Malga Venegiota (1840 m) and on a steep slope, we make the last few meters that separate us from the Baita Segantini (2180 m). After reaching our tour destination, we start downhill to the Cervino hut, where we turn right at the turnoff and – again uphill – cycle to the Juribello hut (1870 m). Proceeding downhill (short counterslope), at the junction we turn right and at the next intersection turn left and return to the starting point going uphill.
There is the possibility of returning by bike up to the hotel by making further 20 kilometres. In this case, the return path is all downhill and flat except for a few short climbs at the Lake of Paneveggio.
